What is iDempiere ERP Consulting?
iDempiere is an open-source ERP that also includes CRM and supply chain management. Windows, tabs, fields, reference lists, document types and workflow rules configured through iDempiere's Application Dictionary first, so standard behaviour is exhausted before anyone proposes writing Java.
OSGi plugin engineering
Callouts, model validators, process classes and custom windows packaged as OSGi bundles that install alongside the core, so a security release applies without redoing last year's work.
Multi-entity accounting design
Accounting schemas, chart of accounts, costing method and inter-company document flows designed across legal entities, so group reporting comes out of the ledger rather than a monthly spreadsheet.
Jasper report development
Statutory and management formats built in Jasper Reports against your real dimensions — stock valuation, debtor ageing, plant-wise production, GST workings — attached to the document you print them from.
Hardware and REST interfaces
iDempiere REST endpoints for apps and portals, plus serial and TCP links to weighbridges, beltscales and plant controllers, each with a retry queue you can inspect when a device stops answering.
ADempiere and Compiere migration
Schema comparison, re-packaging of patched source into plugins, and data carry-over for organisations still on ADempiere or Compiere, with a written list of what will behave differently afterwards.

Why iDempiere, and when it is the wrong answer
iDempiere suits organisations that need genuine ERP depth — multi-entity accounting, manufacturing, supply chain, complex pricing — without a licence bill that scales with headcount. It is a mature codebase with a long lineage through Compiere and ADempiere, and its OSGi plugin model is the cleanest customisation story in open-source ERP.
It is the wrong answer if you want something you can configure yourself over a weekend. iDempiere rewards proper implementation. A badly configured iDempiere is worse than a well-configured simpler system, and we will tell you during discovery if that is where you are heading.
What we actually do
Most engagements fall into three shapes:
- Greenfield implementation. Business design, data model, chart of accounts, workflows and rollout for an organisation moving off spreadsheets or a legacy package.
- Extension of a running system. Custom plugins, reports, integrations and process changes on an instance someone else installed.
- Rescue. A stalled or abandoned implementation that needs an honest assessment and a route out.
Customisation that survives upgrades
The OSGi plugin architecture allows functionality to be added as separate bundles rather than by editing core source. This matters enormously three years later, when a security update lands and a patched-source system cannot take it without re-doing the work. Everything we build is packaged this way.
Integration is usually the real work
In practice, most iDempiere projects spend more effort on integration than on ERP configuration: Tally for statutory books, weighbridges and plant controllers on the shop floor, GST e-invoicing, banking channels, and often a legacy system that cannot be retired yet. We scope that explicitly rather than discovering it mid-project.

What is iDempiere?
iDempiere is an open-source enterprise resource planning system that also includes customer relationship management and supply chain management. It descends from the Compiere and ADempiere lineage, runs on Java and PostgreSQL, and uses an OSGi plugin architecture so functionality can be extended without modifying core source code.
Is iDempiere really free?
The software carries no licence fee. Your costs are implementation, any custom development, hosting and support. For a 50-user deployment that difference is substantial: proprietary ERP would typically charge per named user annually plus 18 to 22 percent maintenance on licence value, and iDempiere charges neither.
How does iDempiere compare to ERPNext?
iDempiere is deeper on multi-entity accounting, complex pricing and manufacturing, and its plugin model is cleaner for heavy customisation. ERPNext is faster to stand up, easier for a business user to configure, and has a friendlier interface. For a straightforward mid-market rollout ERPNext is often the pragmatic choice; for structural complexity iDempiere usually wins.
Can you take over an iDempiere system another vendor built?
Yes, and it is a common engagement. We start with an assessment of the existing configuration and customisations, document what is there, and give you an honest view of whether to build on it or rebuild parts of it. That assessment is quoted as a fixed fee.
Will our customisations break when iDempiere is upgraded?
Not if they are built properly. We package customisations as OSGi plugins rather than editing core source, which is precisely what keeps upgrades possible. If you have inherited a patched-source system, the assessment will tell you what it would cost to re-package it.
How long does an iDempiere implementation take?
A focused single-entity rollout typically runs eight to twelve weeks from kickoff. Multi-entity deployments with data migration, hardware integration and custom plugins usually run four to six months. Discovery gives you a phased plan with dates before you commit.
