A perishable product with a compliance trail

Ready-mix concrete has a shelf life measured in hours and a quality obligation measured in years. Both have to be managed by the same operation, and manual challan books manage neither well.

The cement question

How the operation flows

Every stage writes to the same ledger, so the number at the end reconciles with the number at the start.

    Order to schedule

    Customer books grade, volume and pour window. The order is checked against plant output rate, mixer fleet and pump availability before it is confirmed and slotted.

    Raw material readiness

    Cement and fly ash silo levels, aggregate and sand stock and admixture drums are checked against the day committed volume, raising purchase indents where cover is short.

    Batching to design

    The plant controller batches to the approved design and the actual quantities flow back per load. Consumption posts against stock and variance against design is written per batch.

    Dispatch and transit

    Challan prints with grade, mix, quantity and batch time. GPS records departure, route and arrival, giving the timestamped record that placement-window disputes turn on.

    Pour and pumping

    Site acknowledgement, pump hours, waiting time and any returned concrete are recorded against the order, so rejected loads are costed rather than quietly absorbed.
